With a foreward kindly written by the Choir President, Bill Parfitt, the Chairman Vauxhall Motors Ltd, the book records over ninety poems written entirely by members, relatives and close friends of the Choir. The subject and style of the poetry is chosen completely by the contributors — the only stipulation by the editors is that it must be the “contributor’s own work”
Poems in this section have been divided into two categories:
those about
the choir,
and those written about other topics.
The larger General section covers a vast range of topics including:
Christmas, a hospital operation, a garden shed and bluebells.
In fact there appears to be a poem about every possible aspect of a chorister’s life!
This section covers the poems which are more
specific to the choir and its activites.
These include memorable concerts, the escapades at practices, and a few about outstanding characters within our ranks.

Editors Phillida Driver, the Choir’s Musical Director, and Ben Smith of the baritone section are the joint editors of the book; both have seen the book throughout all its stages of preparation - from when the initial idea was hatched back in 2009 to the first batch in production.
In all there are over ninety contributions from about 25 choristers and associates. Apart from checking and editing the mass of input, both Phillida and Ben have contributed their fair share of original poems.
